Basketball Recap: Moapa Valley Snags 12th Victory in Last 14 Games

Moapa Valley had won two straight games and Claire Cox did her part to make it three on Monday. The Moapa Valley Pirates blew past the GV Christian Guardians 66-25 thanks in part to Cox, who dropped a triple-double on 25 points, ten boards, and ten steals. Her evening made it 12 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Wadsworth, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Despite the loss, GV Christian still got an impressive performance from Samantha Charron, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. That was a full 56% of GV Christian's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Moapa Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.1 points per game. As for GV Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13.

Moapa Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-27 win against Pinecrest Academy Cadence on the 28th. GV Christian has also already played their next contest, a 67-17 loss against Needles on the 28th.
