Estero came tearing into Wednesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the South Fort Myers Wolfpack as they made off with a 16-0 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Makenzie Baxter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Ava Weinbaum was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Taqueria Handy was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Estero's record now sits at 13-8. As for South Fort Myers, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.
Estero does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Fort Myers, they will take on Dunbar at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Fighting Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something the Wolfpack will no doubt try to take advantage of.
