Basketball Game Preview: Primero Bulldogs vs. Custer County Bobcats

The Primero Bulldogs will square off against the Custer County Bobcats on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Primero comes in on 12 and Custer County on three.

On Tuesday, Primero got the win against Trinidad by a conclusive 69-46. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 23 points or more this season.

Primero had a senior duo take command as Brett Kendall went 12 of 21 on his way to 31 points and three steals and Mat Pachorek went 9 for 13 en route to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kendall has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ralsten Leplatt, who posted eight points and five boards.

Primero smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Custer County had just enough and edged Pikes Peak Christian out 52-50 on Tuesday.

Primero pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Custer County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Primero came up short against Custer County in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 53-48. Can Primero avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
