The Belmont Bison will venture away from home to take on the National Trail Blazers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Belmont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Belmont's offense. They came up short against Archbishop Alter on Wednesday, falling 13-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Bison were not able to get on the board.
Belmont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Mcdowell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, National Trail can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over New Miami. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Blazers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Morgan House made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, National Trail got a massive performance out of Taylor Reynolds, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Reynolds' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Carley Hamm, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
National Trail's record now sits at 8-13. As for Belmont, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-2 record.
National Trail's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Belmont has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .521.
