Basketball Game Preview: Albuquerque Academy Chargers vs. St. Pius X Sartans

The Albuquerque Academy Chargers will head out to face off against the St. Pius X Sartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

St. Pius X is hoping to do what Gallup couldn't on Saturday: put an end to Albuquerque Academy's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Everything went Albuquerque Academy's way against Gallup as Albuquerque Academy made off with a 75-50 victory. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, St. Pius X got the win against Rio Grande on Saturday by a conclusive 55-35. Given the Sartans' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Ravens are ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Albuquerque Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for St. Pius X, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

Albuquerque Academy couldn't quite finish off St. Pius X in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 and fell 46-44. Can Albuquerque Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
