Basketball Game Preview: Newton Eagles vs. Kirbyville Wildcats

The Newton Eagles will challenge the Kirbyville Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Newton can't be to happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home last Tuesday. They came up short against West Sabine, falling 48-27. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured six defeats in a row dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 81-33, which was the final score in Kirbyville's tilt against Evadale on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now lost four in a row.

Newton came up short against Kirbyville when the teams last played back in January of 2022, falling 56-52. Can Newton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
