Basketball Recap: Colmesneil Comes Up Short

Colmesneil lost against San Augustine back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Colmesneil Bulldogs took a blow against the San Augustine Wolves, falling 52-7. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1301st, while the Wolves are ranked 610th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Augustine to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anjayia Barnes, who posted six points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. That's the most points Barnes has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ziunna Wade, who put up five points along with six boards and five steals.

Colmesneil has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for San Augustine, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Colmesneil didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 defeat against Chireno on the 31st. San Augustine has also already played their next game, a 69-20 victory against Corrigan-Camden on the 31st.
