Newtown snaps 11-game streak of wins on the road

Recap: Newtown Nighthawks vs. Immaculate Mustangs

It was a good run, but the Newtown Nighthawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 46-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Immaculate. Newtown was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Immaculate apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Immaculate got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kendra Foy out in front who scored 17 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Callie Miller, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Newtown's defeat ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-1. As for Immaculate, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newtown will take on Weston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Weston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Newtown is ranked 16th). As for Immaculate, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Stratford at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Stratford is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
