Volleyball Recap: Bayside Academy Falls to Vestavia Hills in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Bayside Academy had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Vestavia Hills Rebels, falling 3-0. The Admirals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

While Bayside Academy ultimately came up short, they really made Vestavia Hills work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-22, 25-18.

Despite the loss, Bayside Academy still got an impressive performance from Mary Katherine Whitehurst, who had 18 digs. Whitehurst has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played.

Vestavia Hills was led to victory by Lillie Hill and Emma Falkner. Hill had 16 digs and five assists, while Falkner had ten digs. That's the most digs Falkner has posted since back in October of 2024.

Bayside Academy has already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Montgomery Academy on the 22nd. As for Vestavia Hills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Moody on the 22nd.
