Basketball Recap: Charlie Gilloth's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Heritage over Rock Canyon

Heritage lost against Rock Canyon back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Heritage Eagles took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rock Canyon Jaguars. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Heritage's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Gilloth, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 15 points. Gilloth is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Trystan Rangel was another key player, going 7 for 16 en route to 17 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Kasen Lehman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rock Canyon, going 11 of 20 on his way to 29 points. Lehman's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Valentine, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards.

Heritage now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Rock Canyon, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Heritage Eagles duke it out with the Highlands Ranch Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th. Rock Canyon has already played their next match (against ThunderRidge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
