Softball Game Preview: Lamar Consolidated Mustangs vs. Austin Mustangs

For the second straight game, Lamar Consolidated will face off against Austin. Lamar Consolidated will square off against Austin on Saturday.

Lamar Consolidated is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Austin get on the board and left with a 19-0 win. Lamar Consolidated might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

Camilla Hawkins and Kailey Quinn did most of the damage at the plate: Hawkins got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI, while Quinn went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave Quinn a new career-high in doubles (two). Valaree Jimenez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Lamar Consolidated was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .559. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

With the victory, Lamar Consolidated broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-15. As for Austin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.
