Baseball Game Preview: North Star Huskies vs. Idaho City Wildcats

North Star is a perfect 5-0 against Idaho City since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Huskies are taking a road trip to challenge the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. North Star will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

On Monday, North Star beat Glenns Ferry 8-5.

Cole Young and Luke Fox made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Young didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. Meanwhile, Fox tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Young has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Young scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances, while Fox scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Teague Fox, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Idaho City made easy work of Garden Valley on Monday and carried off a 13-2 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

North Star's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games. As for Idaho City, their record is now 4-11.

North Star took their victory against Idaho City in their previous matchup last Monday by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
