Basketball Game Preview: Southeast Halifax Trojans vs. Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars

Having just played yesterday, the Southeast Halifax Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Rocky Mount Prep Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Southeast Halifax has now lost 12 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 3.

On Thursday, Southeast Halifax had to suffer through a 72-37 loss at the hands of Nash Central. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 561st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 264th).

Meanwhile, Rocky Mount Prep came up short against Tarboro on Wednesday and fell 45-35.

Southeast Halifax will need focus on slowing down Amora Franklin, one of several Rocky Mount Prep players who made an impact when they last played. She posted four points along with 14 rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sumaya Lancaster, who scored 12 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Rocky Mount Prep's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Southeast Halifax, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Southeast Halifax beat Rocky Mount Prep 47-37 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southeast Halifax since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
