Baseball Game Preview: Flinthills Mustangs vs. Herington Railers

The Flinthills Mustangs will head out to face off against the Herington Railers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Flinthills is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Oxford just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 10-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since April 3, 2025.

Meanwhile, Herington lost 10-4 to Ell-Saline on Tuesday.

Jason Ribelin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. He also scored a run, marking his first of the season.

Herington's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Flinthills, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-2.

Everything went Flinthills' way against Herington when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Flinthills made off with a 17-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
