Preview: Mauldin Mavericks vs. T.L. Hanna Yellow Jackets
The Mauldin Mavericks will be playing in front of their home fans against the T.L. Hanna Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mauldin will be looking to keep their 16-game home win streak alive.
Mauldin put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Woodmont at home to the tune of 70-32. Given Mauldin's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Woodmont is ranked 80th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mauldin found their leader in underclassman Zara Leamon, who scored 23 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Leamon has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times she's played. Delilah Soltys was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for T.L. Hanna, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-45 loss to Woodmont on Friday.
Mauldin's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for T.L. Hanna, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
Mauldin strolled past T.L. Hanna when the teams last played on January 10th by a score of 50-36. Does Mauldin have another victory up their sleeve, or will T.L. Hanna turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
