Softball Game Preview: Willis Wildkats vs. Conroe Tigers

The Willis Wildkats will face off against the Conroe Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Conroe will be up against a hot Willis team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Wildkats never let New Caney get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Tuesday.

Alexi Ford made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Josie Foxworth and Sydney Prihoda did most of the damage at the plate: Foxworth scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Prihoda went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. What's more, Foxworth posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Culp, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Conroe waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 9-1 victory.

Conroe's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Willis, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.
