Preview: Lockwood Tigers vs. Liberal Bulldogs
Lockwood is 6-0 against Liberal since August of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lockwood Tigers will be staying on the road to face off against the Liberal Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Lockwood has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 541 points over their last nine games.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lockwood had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Greenfield 62-12 on the road. Considering Lockwood has won eight matchups by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Liberal faced College Heights Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Liberal strolled past College Heights Christian with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 44-28. The win was just what Liberal needed coming off of a 72-0 defeat in their prior match.
Quincy Bazal was a one-man wrecking crew for Liberal as he rushed for 62 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, and also picked up 82 receiving yards. Nolan Shaw and his 87 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Liberal's win.
Another reason for the win was Liberal's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. Isaac Edwards was especially locked on to College Heights Christian's QB and sacked him twice.
Their wins bumped Lockwood to 8-2 and Liberal to 4-6.
Everything came up roses for Lockwood against Liberal in their previous meeting back in September as the team secured a 69-8 victory. Does Lockwood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Liberal turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
