Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Velva, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Rugby out 3-2 on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Aggies as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Velva had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 16-25, 26-28, 25-22, 25-22, 15-13.
Keely Cadwell and Brynlee Zieman were among the main playmakers for Velva as the former had 19 digs and two aces and the latter had 12 digs. Cadwell is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last four games she's played.
Velva was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved they're ace total in three consecutive contests.
Westhope/Newburg's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Velva, their record is now 6-11-2.
