Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Railsplitters vs. New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Vipers

The Lincoln Railsplitters will take on the New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Vipers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lincoln has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly will arrive with four straight wins.

On Friday, Lincoln didn't have quite enough to beat Metamora and fell 3-2.

Meanwhile, New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly's hitters rose to the challenge against an Eagles pitching crew that boasted an average of only 4.05 runs allowed on Saturday. The Vipers blew past Liberty 15-4.

New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.

Everything went Lincoln's way against New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Lincoln made off with a 6-0 victory. Will the Railsplitters repeat their success, or do the Vipers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
