Baseball Recap: St. Pauls Finds Home Field Redemption Against Red Springs

There's no place like home for St. Pauls, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Red Springs Red Devils 7-6 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since April 19, 2024.

Cameron Mcniell and Jaden Parker were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Mcniell pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Parker pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mcniell has become a key player for St. Pauls: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-6 otherwise. At the plate, Mcniell scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Parker scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Parker has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, St. Pauls let Theo Setzer and Jaylen Jacobs run wild. Setzer got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, while Jacobs scored two runs while going 2-for-3. St. Pauls is 4-2 when Jacobs posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

St. Pauls' win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-7. As for Red Springs, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-8.
