Baseball Recap: Cedarcrest Wins Going Away Against Sultan

Cedarcrest won against Evergreen on Tuesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Red Wolves blew past the Sultan Turks 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Red Wolves, who have now won 12 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cedarcrest got a great performance from Colt Norris as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Norris a new career-high.

At the plate, Luke Thompson and Carter Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Thompson went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Smith went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Smith has posted since back in April. Braden Bottemiller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Cedarcrest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Cedarcrest's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Sultan, their loss dropped their record down to 7-15.

Coming up, Cedarcrest will venture away from home to challenge Selah at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Red Wolves surely won't give up without a fight. Sultan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
