Basketball Recap: Great Plains Lutheran Skates Past Illinois Lutheran with Ease

Great Plains Lutheran had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Illinois Lutheran Chargers, posting a 69-26 win.

Among those leading the charge was Micah Holien, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points. Those 16 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Czerwan, who went 6 of 11 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Great Plains Lutheran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Illinois Lutheran is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Great Plains Lutheran won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Michigan Lutheran at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Michigan Lutheran knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Great Plains Lutheran likes a good challenge. Illinois Lutheran will take on Clifton Central in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
