Mason Martin and Josh Davis provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Asheville School. The connection was good for 75 yards, the longest such play in 1A Conference 3 this season.
Cherryville moved up to 355 from 384 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Ironmen climbed the ranks as a result of beating East Gaston 19-14.
Thomas Jefferson Academy's dynamic duo of Martin and Mason Fenner proved tough for the Blues to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Martin threw for 87 yards and Fenner had 75 yards receiving.

Tyler Bess was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 127 yards as Bessemer City defeated the Blues. Teammate Cedric Mackey added to the ground attack by rushing for 118 yards.
Fenner was the best wideout in 1A Conference 3 this week as the Gryphons beat Asheville School.
Thomas Jefferson Academy's Martin and Efrim Borders have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Martin has thrown for 459 yards this season, while Borders, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 16 catches for 258 yards. The Yellowjackets' Mackey leads the league in rushing yards with 561.
Pine Lake Prep fell to Ravenscroft 57-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
