Softball Game Preview: Lake Braddock Bruins vs. Oakton Cougars

The Lake Braddock Bruins will take on the Oakton Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oakton took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lake Braddock, who comes in off a win.

While Bruins fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over South County on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Stallions: they've now won three in a row.

Mac Verdejo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Lake Braddock saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mae Brewin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Brewin has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Oakton fell victim to Langley and their airtight pitching crew last Tuesday. They lost 7-0 to the Saxons. The Cougars have struggled against the Saxons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.
