Baseball Recap: Capistrano Valley Comes Up Short

Capistrano Valley was the 4-3 winner over Villa Park when they last played one another back in March of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Capistrano Valley fell just short of Villa Park by a score of 3-1 on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly two runs.

Capistrano Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyler Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Capistrano Valley and nudges their season record down to 6-5. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Villa Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Capistrano Valley will host Dana Hills at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. This will be Capistrano Valley's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Villa Park, they will head out on the road to challenge Canyon at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
