Football Game Preview: Chickasaw Chieftains vs. Cottonwood Bears + Official Tickets

The Chickasaw Chieftains will challenge the Cottonwood Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Chickasaw and Satsuma had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Chieftains took a hard 28-13 fall against the Gators on Thursday. The Chieftains have struggled against the Gators recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Cottonwood entered their tilt with Long last Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 34-26 win over the Rebels.

Chickasaw better keep an eye on Ethan Simmons. He was instrumental in Cottonwood's win, rushing for 140 yards and three TDs, while also throwing for 160 yards on only 12 passes. Those 160 passing yards gave Simmons a new career-high.

Cottonwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 170 rushing yards in nine consecutive contests.

Cottonwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jerrod Cody, Simmons, and Evan Morris picked up one apiece. Kade Strength was another major factor on D, making 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Chickasaw's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Cottonwood, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3-1.
