Basketball Game Preview: Viborg/Hurley Cougars vs. Scotland/Menno Trappers

The Viborg/Hurley Cougars will challenge the Scotland/Menno Trappers at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Viborg/Hurley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Dakota's top teams: Rapid City Christian, who was ranked third at the time (Viborg/Hurley was ranked 14th). Viborg/Hurley lost 59-38 to Rapid City Christian on Saturday. The match marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Scotland/Menno fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Bridgewater/Emery on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 75-65 to the Huskies. The Trappers just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Viborg/Hurley will have to contain Izayah Ulmer as he made an impact in Scotland/Menno's last game. He posted 21 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Ulmer a new career-high in points. Erick Buechler was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Scotland/Menno's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Viborg/Hurley, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-2.
