Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Emery Thomson and Saydi Walker Lead Mansfield to Victory

While Mansfield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-28), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Brennan Bears by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Leading Mansfield to victory were Saydi Walker and Emery Thomson. Walker had seven digs and two aces, while Thomson had eight assists and five digs. That's the most digs Walker has posted over her last nine matches.

Brennan's loss came despite strong showings from Aviana Contreras and Mia Nunez. Contreras had 13 assists and four digs, while Nunez had ten digs and one assist. Contreras has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more assists the last three times she's played.

Mansfield's victory bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Brennan, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Mansfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Aledo on the 23rd. As for Brennan, they will face off against Harlan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
