Baseball Recap: Archbishop Murphy Comes Up Short

Archbishop Murphy had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 5-14-1 to make it six. They came up short against the Stanwood Spartans, falling 10-0. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Stanwood, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

For Stanwood's part, they got a great performance from Braddock Johnson as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brody Seigel and Dean Fagan did most of the damage at the plate: Seigel went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base, while Fagan went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those two hits gave Seigel a new career-high.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop Murphy will challenge Mountlake Terrace at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Stanwood, they will face off against Monroe at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 1.6, the Bearcats 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
