Basketball Game Preview: Pittsburg Pirates vs. Las Lomas Knights

The Pittsburg Pirates and the Las Lomas Knights will face off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Pittsburg came up short against Liberty and fell 71-60. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while the Lions are ranked 35th).

Meanwhile, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Las Lomas made off with a 55-54 win over Benicia. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Las Lomas has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Pittsburg, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9.

Pittsburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Las Lomas in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 70-58. Will Pittsburg repeat their success, or does Las Lomas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
