Baseball Game Preview: Torrance Tartars vs. St. John Bosco Braves

The Torrance Tartars will head out on the road to challenge the St. John Bosco Braves at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Torrance sitting on five straight wins and St. John Bosco on 11.

On Monday, Torrance earned a 9-4 victory over Woodrow Wilson.

River Martinez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Torrance let Noriyoshi Mori and Mateo Rickman run wild. Mori went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Rickman got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, St. John Bosco got themselves on the board against JSerra Catholic on Friday, but JSerra Catholic never followed suit. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Lions.

Brayden Krakowski looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Jaden Jackson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

St. John Bosco's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Torrance, their record is now 17-9.
