Baseball Game Preview: Pleasant Spartans vs. Elgin Comets

The Pleasant Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Elgin Comets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Pleasant fell victim to Clear Fork and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 6-0 to the Colts. The game marked the first time this season in which the Spartans were not able to get on the board.

Ryan Conway made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Cardington-Lincoln hit Elgin with a six-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Comets fell 9-6 to the Pirates. The Comets' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Elgin's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Pleasant, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Pleasant skirted past Elgin 9-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
