Southwest had won eight straight games and Kyra Nelms did her part to make it nine on Saturday. The Southwest Roughriders enjoyed a cozy 58-39 victory over the Wauneta-Palisade Broncos thanks in part to Nelms, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 boards. Those 25 points gave her a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Allison Vanpelt, who posted nine points and four steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played.

Wauneta-Palisade's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Izzy Stehno, who earned nine points and three steals, and Cheyenne Parrish, who put up ten points and five steals. Stehno continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Kamryn Fanning was another key player, putting up five points and five rebounds.

Southwest's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Wauneta-Palisade, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Southwest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-17 victory against Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] on the 14th. Wauneta-Palisade has also already played their next contest (against Perkins County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
