Basketball Recap: South Dearborn Comes Up Short

South Dearborn fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Batesville on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 64-55 to the Batesville Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 49-45 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Cade Kaiser was his usual excellent self, going 10 for 13 to rack up 23 points and six boards for Batesville. Kaiser continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Trenten Luers, who posted 13 points and six assists.

This is the second loss in a row for South Dearborn and nudges their season record down to 11-7. As for Batesville, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Dearborn will square off against Conner at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Batesville, they will take on Madison at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
