Basketball Recap: Lyrique Johnson Key Part of a Team Effort in Redmen Win

There's no place like home for Fostoria, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 51-30 margin over the Otsego Knights on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Redmen, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fostoria to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lyrique Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Alycia Middlebrooks was another key player, going 5 for 7 on her way to 14 points.

When it comes to explaining why Otsego lost, don't look at Jocelyn Cornell. Despite the final result, she went 5 of 7 on her way to 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Lehr, who posted eight points.

Fostoria is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Otsego, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

Fostoria will take on Liberty-Benton in a holiday battle at at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Otsego, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-25 defeat against Oak Harbor on the 19th.
