Baseball Recap: Rowan County Comes Up Short

East Carter hit Rowan County with a four-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell 6-3 to the Raiders. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by exactly three runs.

Aaron Pennington put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Rowan County: the team is 9-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise.

Pennington wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eli Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Rowan County is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11. As for East Carter, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
