Basketball Game Preview: Ness City Eagles vs. Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks

The Ness City Eagles will challenge the Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Ness City will head into Tuesday's matchup out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 64-22 loss at the hands of Ellinwood. While losing is never fun, Ness City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Ellinwood is ranked 87th).

Ashlyn Tillitson put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted 17 points.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Wheatland-Grinnell's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 52-26 to Oakley. The contest marked the Thunderhawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Wheatland-Grinnell's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Ness City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Ness City ended up a good deal behind Wheatland-Grinnell in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, losing 54-37. Thankfully for Ness City, Karoline Schroeder (who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
