Softball Recap: Matanzas Pirates vs. Beachside Barracudas
While Matanzas's win against Beachside wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates beat the Barracudas on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-1. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Barracudas recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
LEAH STEVENS spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 20 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Matanzas' win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was MCKENZIE MANHART, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
