Sandia faced Alamogordo in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Sandia came up short against Alamogordo, falling 8-2. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Matadors couldn't push the score so high this time.

Sandia dropped their record down to 7-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Alamogordo, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
