Volleyball Recap: Central Catholic's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Central Catholic dropped to 16-3 on Friday, ending the team's nine-match streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Chelmsford Lions by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

Despite the loss, Central Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dahiamerys Brito had 14 digs and four assists. Brito is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.

As for Chelmsford, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since September 15th.

Chelmsford had a senior duo take command as Brianna Cairns had 17 digs and four aces and Tiffany Vu had 11 digs and two aces. April Cunha also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Central Catholic and Chelmsford should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings. The Raiders will take on Boston Latin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (7 vs. 111). Meanwhile, Chelmsford (ranked first) will meet Wellesley (ranked 27th) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
