Basketball Recap: Biloxi Indians vs. Booker T. Washington Wildcats
After flying high against West Jones last Saturday, Biloxi came back down to earth. The Biloxi Indians took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Booker T. Washington Wildcats on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Indians came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 11th in Mississippi, while the Wildcats are ranked 156th in Florida).
Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elvenis Davis, who posted five points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Davis has become a key player for Biloxi: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three steals, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandro Montalvo, who had nine points.
Even though they lost, Biloxi smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
Leading Booker T. Washington to victory were Adam Griffin and Pierce Bizerra. Griffin went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds, while Bizerra dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Bizerra is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kavieon Brown, who put up four points and three steals.

Biloxi moved to 6-2 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Booker T. Washington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
Biloxi didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-49 win against D'Iberville on the 6th. As for Booker T. Washington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 72-62 victory against Tate on the 5th.
