Recap: Dyer County Choctaws vs. Millington Central Trojans
The Dyer County Choctaws put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 72-48 margin over Millington Central. Given Dyer County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Millington Central is ranked 133rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Millington Central still got an impressive performance from Brandon Payne, who scored 16 points. Payne scored a full 33.3% of Millington Central's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tayshaun Dye was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Dyer County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Millington Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Dyer County will be playing at home against McNairy Central at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Millington Central, they will face off against Mayfield at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
