Everything went their way against the Putnam City Pirates on Thursday as they made off with a 17-1 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Maroons as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Blackwell let Andrew Young and Eyzic Burke run wild. Young went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Burke went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Burke has become a key player for Blackwell: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-18 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tanner Ward, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

Blackwell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Putnam City only posted an OBP of .417.
