Football Recap: Osbourn Park Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Friday just wasn't the day for Osbourn Park's offense. They were outmatched by Independence and fell 35-0. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Independence are ranked 68th).

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Chase Alvarez and Trent Stewart. Alvarez gained 45 total yards and three touchdowns while Stewart rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Independence also got a significant boost from Robert Kellen, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.

Osbourn Park is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4. As for Independence, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Osbourn Park will head out on the road to face off against Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 12.3 points per game this season, so the Yellowjackets' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Independence, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Unity Reed at 7:00 p.m. Independence will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.29 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
