Baseball Recap: Highlands Ranch Takes a Loss

Highlands Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Poudre Impalas. The Falcons were not able to make up for their loss to the Impalas from their previous meeting back in April of 2016.

Ayden Wells and Zach Benner stepped up to the plate in a big way. Wells scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Benner scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those two runs gave Benner a new career-high. Crew Gerig was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Highlands Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Poudre, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Looking ahead, Highlands Ranch will welcome Lewis-Palmer at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Poudre, they will head out to face off against Greeley West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
