Baseball Recap: Fairmont Firebirds vs. Northmont Thunderbolts
Fairmont had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 9-12 to make it four. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northmont Thunderbolts. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbolts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 last Monday.
As for Northmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games.
For Northmont's part, the team relied heavily on Drake Sauber, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Fairmont and Northmont should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Firebirds will face off against Miamisburg at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (153 vs. 403). Meanwhile, Northmont (ranked 73rd) will meet Wayne (ranked 428th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
