Baseball Recap: Eaglecrest Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Eaglecrest had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Arapahoe on Thursday. The Raptors blew past the Warriors 13-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Raptors, who have now won three contests in a row.

Brian Moreland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Eaglecrest's success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 8-11 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Liam Sutton was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Eaglecrest: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Anderson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Eaglecrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Eaglecrest's record is now 10-12. As for Arapahoe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.

Eaglecrest will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
