Basketball Recap: Bevier Takes a Loss

Bevier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by the Green City Gophers 60-21. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 553rd, while the Gophers are ranked 148th).

Jaryn Hatcher continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Green City, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards. Hatcher's evening made it 14 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Crist, who went 6-for-10 on her way to 16 points and four steals.

Bevier's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Green City, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-4.

Bevier has already played their next game (against Tina-Avalon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Green City, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bucklin-Macon County at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
