Baseball Recap: Spring Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Spring duked it out with Humble on Saturday. The Spring Lions fell just short of the Humble Wildcats by a score of 7-6. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Joshua Porter was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Spring: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jesus Martinez, who scored a run and stole a base.

Even though they lost, Spring hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Humble struck out eight times.

Spring is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8. As for Humble, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-9-1 record this season.

Spring will be playing in front of their home fans against Westfield at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Spring is facing Westfield at the right time seeing as Westfield is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Humble, they are taking a road trip to challenge North Shore at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
