Basketball Game Preview: Ouray Trojans vs. Dove Creek Bulldogs

The Ouray Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Dove Creek Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Ouray turned things around against Caprock Academy on Friday. They walked away with a 62-53 win over the Eagles.

Ouray's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cavan Pasek, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Pasek is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. Wesley Rhoades was another key player, going 7 of 15 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Dove Creek came tearing into Saturday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down the Miners 58-43.

Dove Creek's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Ouray, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.

Ouray beat Dove Creek 42-34 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Will Ouray repeat their success, or does Dove Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
